Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke representative Emma McClenaghan along with Cheering Squad, Sandy Row Falcon’s, show their best cheering move they will be using to support runners and walkers on the 7th May at the Belfast City Marathon.
The Sandy Row Falcon’s will be cheering on all runners and walkers along the route and will be at one of many NICHS stations to give everyone a big boost just when they need it. NICHS cheering stations will be at Sydenham, Antrim Road, Hazelbank, Whitla Street and Ravenhill Road with volunteers shaking pom poms and making a lot of noise in support of the incredible people taking part! The Sandy Row Falcon cheerleading squad have been active since 2002. As an amateur squad, they have gained measurable experience and have been noticed over the years by entering numerous competitions. They take part in many events all over Belfast and Northern Ireland.
Cheryl Brown, NICHS Events Manager says “The Belfast City Marathon is one of our biggest events bringing in nearly £40,000 every year. Over 17,000 runners are expected to hit the streets of North, South, East and West of the City. We heavily rely on the public to choose NICHS when signing up to run, walk or relay so we can ensure that we are always there for people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions.”
With the deadline fast approaching NICHS is calling for those who still have to sign up to make their huge efforts really matter and choose to run, walk or relay for local people living with chest, heart or stroke conditions or run to remember those lost to these devastating illnesses.
The Belfast City Marathon is well known as one of the world’s friendliest marathon routes with great vibes from start to finish, taking part provides an excellent opportunity to enhance your own health as well as the health of our local community through choosing to run for Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke. Cheryl continues “Over 85% of our income is generated through the generosity and thoughtfulness of the local communities and businesses of Northern Ireland, without them we wouldn’t be here. That’s why I’m asking everyone taking part in the Belfast Marathon or anyone even considering it, to register with NICHS.
