A number of Grosvenor's elite choristers, flanked by Principal Dr. Vasey and Head of Music Miss Foster, who have been selected to attend residential training with either the Ulster Youth Choir of Ulster Youth Training Choir this July.

Congratulations to ten of Grosvenor’s top choristers who have been selected onto either the Ulster Youth Choir or Ulster Youth Training Choir following a workshop conducted within the school on Thursday 10th March.

The auditions took place within the GGS Music department when Alan Leech, a professional singer and vocal tutor with the Ulster Youth Choir, showcased a choral workshop with Grosvenor’s elite Chamber Choir. All of the pupils involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience and benefited greatly from Mr Leech's technical training and relaxed, humorous approach.

Following the workshop and upon consideration by Mr Leech of those who auditioned, a number of pupils have now been offered a place to attend a summer residential course with the Ulster Youth Training Choir, namely: Sarah Myles, Libby Duncan, Eva Wardlow, Amy Cullen, Ruth Milligan, Amy McMillan, James Morrison and Ben Stacey. This course will take place at Campbell College Belfast from 16th – 22nd July, culminating in a concert entitled 'Earth Song' on Friday 22nd July.

What is more two additional pupils, Stephen Hedley and Thomas Parke, have been afforded the honour of an invitation to attend a residential course with the Ulster Youth Choir from 24th - 30th July. Again taking place at Campbell College, this course will also conclude with a concert on the final evening, this time entitled 'As Dreams Are Made Of'.

The Ulster Youth Choir was established in 1999 in order to provide the best of Northern Ireland’s young singers aged 14-24 with the opportunity to sing together to the highest possible standards, receiving training from some of the best choral and vocal practitioners from throughout the UK and Ireland, and is now regarded as one of Northern Ireland’s leading artistic and educational organisations. Selection onto either the UYC or Ulster Youth Training Choir is therefore a major honour for those aforementioned Grosvenor pupils, and we wish them the best of luck on their respective courses this coming July.

As well as the pupils themselves, however, sincerest congratulations are also extended to Grosvenor’s Head of Music Miss Rosemary Foster, without whose dedication and guidance the school’s choristers would be incapable of achieving the heights which they have attained in recent years.
