Dubbed the Oscars of the business award world, the Belfast Business Awards were back in true style after a three-year hiatus
Some of Belfast’s best known shops, tourist hotspots, restaurants and hotels have gathered together to celebrate the best of the city’s business community.
Dubbed the Oscars of the business award world, the Belfast Business Awards were back in true style after a three-year hiatus, with world-class entertainment and over 400 guests in attendance from the world of politics, business and showbiz.
Held in Belfast’s most iconic building, City Hall, 15 members of the business community took to the stage to collect their highly coveted award.
A further nine businesses received highly commended status.
Paul McMahon, President of Belfast Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said the awards are a testimony to the outstanding calibre of businesses in the city.
"I am both proud and honoured to be able to recognise and reward the very best of what Belfast has to offer,” he added.
"Tonight we have seen representation from well known big-scale businesses, from Boots who won Customer Service Excellence, to the smaller independents such as James Street South who won best eatery. No matter what scale the business, even to be shortlisted is a fantastic testimony to their success.”
Crumlin Road Gaol, James Street South, the Merchant Hotel and The Mac were among those who received awards for their contribution to business in Belfast.
Mr McMahon said special recognition was offered to Jim Fitzpatrick, chair of the Irish News Group, who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
An award was also made in memory of Neil Gordon from Gordon’s Chemist, who passed away last year.
