A partnership between South Eastern Regional College (SERC), Bangor Chamber of Commerce and Visit Ards and North Down has helped to launch an exciting new Bangor Ambassador Programme. This new initiative has been set up to help enhance and improve the visitor experience for inbound tourists arriving in Bangor, beginning with the SeaBangor Festival hosts NI Armed forces Day.
A team of SERC students from a variety of courses including the Foundation Degree in Tourism Hospitality and Events, Hospitality and Travel and Tourism have been put together and will be strategically placed around the town armed with I-Pads and local knowledge to offer advice, guidance, directions and a warm seaside welcome to all visitors to the town for this popular maritime festival.
Paul Barr commented “This is an excellent opportunity for the students to work alongside key stakeholders in the local sector, develop future industry contacts and hone the all-important soft skills required by employers and at the same time represent their town and college.”
It is hoped that this expert bank of students will be utilised on a regular basis for all major events taking place in the Ards and North Down area.
