North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has commended SERC College following the Opening of the new SPACE Performing Arts Theatre.
The MLA added: “I am absolutely delighted with the new Space facility which incorporates Preforming Arts, Music, Computing and Engineering at the SERC College in Bangor. This is a fantastic facility both for students and also importantly for the wider local community which meets the need of much needed local theatre provision.
“This investment of £12million is a very positive step forward and will provide North Down with its first purpose built Theatre and Performing Arts centre for public use and productions. This is now a real flagship facility for the Arts sector and will help inspire a new generation of artists and hopefully encourage them into developing their skills on stage in music, drama and theatre.
“I would like to commend the excellent work of SERC and their team of professional staff lead by their Chief Executive and Principal Mr Ken Webb for bringing this exciting facility into fruition. I would like to wish the College well in the days ahead with this new facility and I believe it will be a real success and we are privileged to have this on our doorstep and shows North Down means business when it comes to the Arts and Culture sectors.
“As Vice-Chair of the DCAL Committee I recognise the very valuable and positive role which the Arts can have. The other element of this great facility is the Computing and Engineering resources which will help to inspire and educate our young people and those seeking to up skill.”
