Bangor all set for Ulster Fleadh 2016!

The seaside town of Bangor, Co Down is hosting the extravaganza of Irish music, dance and culture that is the Ulster Fleadh this summer.
The town will be buzzing for the weeklong celebration, from Saturday-Sunday, July 16-24 and local trad association Ards CCÉ is helping host the festival which includes everything from literary events to workshops, music sessions, headline / youth concerts, dancing and singing.
Alongside the less formal entertainment, there are two main fleadh concerts featuring headline acts Beoga and The Sands Family / Na LeanaÍ.
BEOGA are opening the festival with a show on Saturday, July 16, at St Comgall’s Parish Centre, Bangor. They will be supported by the internationally acclaimed Ards CCÉ Entertainment Group with their award winning show of music, song and dance.
The SANDS FAMILY & NA LEANAÍ bands will be performing on Thursday, July 21, at Bangor Abbey and will be supported by Champion Irish Storyteller Marianne McShane from USA. This will be a unique evening of wonder tales and superb traditional music and song from Co Down’s most famous musical clan.
Tickets for both concerts are only £10 each and available to purchase at www.ulsterfleadh.com or at the Mace Store, Brunswick Road, Bangor.
Among the many highlights of the Ulster Fleadh will also be the chance to see LAUREN SMYTH, lead dancer in RIVERDANCE, perform on Friday, July 22, at The Hub on Bangor Seafront and later that evening in the Rabbit Rooms Bar. CATHAL HAYDEN & SEAMIE O’DOWD will also be performing the same evening, after their workshops, for an hour long concert and on Saturday, July 23, Belfast trailblazers RÉALTA are action. All these events are free at the Rabbit Rooms Bar....so get there early and get a seat!
