Tuesday Market to offer different activities this summer
July 2018 - The Lisburn Advertiser
Lisburn`s Traditional Tuesday Market has gone through a few changes since Charles I granted Lisburn the right of a weekly Market back in 1627 and with the latest new layout of the Market in Smithfield Square it is hoped that many more shoppers will return to this stalwart of retail in the city.
Over the summer months the Council will continue to support the market but will be offering different activities than usual within the Market. These will include music Sessions, children’s play area and somewhere to sit with a cup of tea and take in the atmosphere. Stalls include fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, fresh eggs and anything from a greetings card to a new outfit!
Reviewing the new set up at the Council run Tuesday market last week was Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, Chairman of the Development Committee at Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council. He commented “I would like to welcome this new layout to Lisburn market and wish all the traders every success. Lisburn has a long and proud history of the Market trading every Tuesday and it brings a uniqueness and sense of tradition to the City Centre. We wish the Tuesday Market every success and may they continue to build upon their accomplishments.”
