DOWNPATRICK mother Carol Campbell, has been honoured at the prestigious SuperValu SuperMums awards ceremony held at Parliament Buildings, Stormont

Thirty mums from across Northern Ireland were celebrated at the SuperValu SuperMums ceremony which saw Co. Antrim’s Kathy O’Neill crowned as Northern Ireland’s top mum and Co. Down’s Rosemary Day, mother of Channing Day who was killed in combat in Afghanistan announced as a runner-up alongside Co. Fermanagh’s Jennifer Keys.

SuperValu Downpatrick finalist Carol, was nominated by her daughter Catherine, for her fearless attitude over the past two years surviving two heart attacks. Carol has a positive outlook on life and has worked tirelessly for charity Tickled Pink.

SuperValu Portglenone finalist Kathy, was crowned the winner by a judging panel who described her as ‘wonder woman’ for her courage in caring for her son Caiden who was diagnosed with cancer at 5 months old. Kathy has also raised an incredible £24,000 for charity.  Hundreds of nominations were received for the competition sponsored by P&G, of inspiring, gutsy and much-loved mothers and 30 finalists were chosen from SuperValu stores in Northern Ireland.  The grand final was hosted by TV personality Claire McCollum who crowned Kathy the overall SuperValu SuperMum 2014, presenting a family break to Malaga, courtesy of Jet2.com.

Donna Morrison, Marketing Manager of SuperValu, said: “There are so many inspirational mothers out there taking life’s challenges, opportunities and issues in their stride and I would like to congratulate all 30 of our SuperMum finalists as they are all very deserving,” Donna added.

The SuperMums ceremony in Stormont demonstrated what a challenging job all mums have, despite their different circumstances and it was great to see so many of them honoured for this.”
