Visit of Secretary of State
January 2019 - The Ards Advertiser
Karen Bradley MP paid a visit to Newtownards High Street recently
The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, the Rt Hon Karen Bradley MP recently visited Ards and North Down paying a visit to Comber’s Famous Fair in the Square for the Christmas lights switch on. She spoke with traders and customers. Another stop on UK Small Business Saturday included High Street in Ards where she encouraged local communities to support independent retailers, pubs, restaurants and other small traders. Her visit followed the announcement of the Brexit plan withdrawal agreement which include provision for Geographical Indications like Comber New Potatoes, Armagh Bramley Apples and Lough Neagh Eels will be protected until a future economic relationship is put in place. The agreement preserves the economic and constitutional integrity of the United Kingdom, upholds the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement, and ensures people and businesses that rely on an open border between Northern Ireland and Ireland can continue living their lives and operating as they do now.
