Students Depart for USA

August 2015 - The Ards Advertiser

SERC students Samuel George and Hope Bradley, from Newtownards, have been selected to study for one year with the Study USA Programme, run by the British Council.

Samuel, a second year Liverpool John Moore's University BA Business Studies student, will study for one year at the University of the Ozarks, in Clarksville, Arkansas. Hope, an HND Applied Biology student, will spend her time at Rocky Mountain College, in Montana.

Study USA is a scholarship to spend a full academic year at an American college or university studying business and management. Each year between 60 and 80 students from Northern Ireland participate in the programme which has been running since 1994.

The programme is administered by the Department for Employment and Learning and delivered by the British Council. Study USA aims to equip students with international expertise and essential business skills, and to raise the profile of Northern Ireland in the United States.

SERC International Officer SERC, Zia Nazar, is the first point of contact at the College for students wishing to participate in this programme. Zia explains “We are delighted that Samuel and Hope were successful and are looking forward to hearing about their progress.”

SERC provides a range of full and part-time courses designed to give students ‘the edge’. To find out how SERC can help you ‘get the edge’ visit www.serc.ac.uk or find us on Facebook, search: South Eastern Regional College.
