New community and sports facilities at Londonderry Park officially opened recently.

Lady Rose Lauritzen and Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Alan Graham officially recently opened the outdoor and indoor sports facilities at Londonderry Park.

Alexander Stewart Pavilion
The Alexander Stewart Pavilion is the central hub of Londonderry Park, with high quality changing rooms and team areas, as well as function rooms that are available to book by community groups or for birthday parties.

Sports facilities
Many sports clubs and community groups already use the new sports pitches and the pavilion, which were completed in August.

Facilities now include professional standard football and cricket pitches, with two all-weather 3G pitches, grass pitches, a bowling green and a batting cage. With floodlighting at the facilities, sports clubs can still use the outdoor pitches during the winter evenings.

Parklands Trim Trail
The Parklands Trim Trail is already popular with walkers, where dogs can be exercised off-lead, and the children’s play park has also reopened.
