April 2019 - The Ards Advertiser
Antiques Road Trip Expert David Harper with owners of the Natural Room Emporium in Comber Jenny and Grahame Booth
Comber is a town rich in history and treasure. Now the town is being put on the treasure hunt map by BBC programme ‘Antiques Road Trip’. During filming for the new series, to be broadcast later in the year, antiques expert David Harper, driving a classic red VW Beetle, recently paid a visit to Comber where he picked up an item for auction from the local antiques emporium!
The owner of the local shop, Grahame Booth told EDA Media:
“We are a new business so I was surprised and very pleased and surprised when I got the call!
David Harper was very enthusiastic about the shop and the town in general. He particularly admired the presentation of antiques with a contemporary twist and commented that this is the type of shop required for the future of town retail. We are very lucky in Comber to have a range of progressive and modern businesses. The film crew also commented on the appeal of the beautiful town square.”
TV expert and presenter David Harper began collecting coins and stamps at the age of 5 and has been hooked on antique ever since. He first appeared on BBC Radio antique phone-ins giving valuations before featuring on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip. He loves painting and also has a passion for Classic Cars.
We’ll have to wait a few months before we see Comber on the TV screen, the likely broadcast date could be several months. On ‘Antiques Road Trip’ experts set off on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.
