Children learn how to stay safe

Council’s Bee Safe campaign helps Primary seven children understand safety concerns. Over1600 Primary seven children from 49 schools in Ards and North Down visited RADAR, Northern Ireland’s first fully interactive, safety and life skills education centre, from 29 February until 14 March.

The visit was part of our ‘BeeSafe’ project for Primary seven children, promoting community and personal safety. Our ‘Bee Safe’ campaign provides special safety awareness sessions for children. The sessions help children explore fire, road, online, bus, home and water safety. They also consider pressure they could face about drugs, alcohol and antisocial behaviour.

They'll learn how to stay safe, thanks to funding from Ards and North Down Borough Council, Ards and North Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) and the Public Health Agency.

Located in Sydenham Harbour Estate, Belfast, RADAR has a full sized street scene with a house, bus, train, courtroom, prison cell, shop, police station and boat. The innovative facility enables young people to explore dangerous situations in a risk-free setting and learn how to keep themselves safe.
