‘Awakenings’ Opens in Newtownards

An exhibition showcasing the work of up and coming designer-makers has opened in Newtownards.

Featuring the work of 8 Northern Irish makers who have all recently embarked on Craft NI’s ‘Making It’ programme, ‘Awakenings’ is their first group exhibition and presents the beginning of the making process, highlighting new ideas, works in progress and representations of how the artists see the next stage of their careers.

Organised by Ards Crafts, Ards Borough Council’s craft development service, the exhibition is part of the Meet the Maker series, which features different crafts people each month, revealing their inspirations, designs, processes and techniques in exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations.

‘Awakenings’ runs until 31 May in Ards Crafts and Design Centre, 31 Regent Street Newtownards (entrance via the Visitor Information Centre). Admission is free.
