December 2016 - South Side Advertiser

Jonathan Moffett (Sports Development Manager, Northern Community Leisure Trust), Paula Kealey (Strategic Partnership Manager, Macmillan Cancer Support), local boxer Michael Conlan, Eimear Hagan (Move More Coordinator Ards & North Down), Karen Kelly (Macmillan Health & Wellbeing Coordinator SE Trust), Ray Elder (Palliative Care Service Lead).

Girls’ Football reached new heights for the local area.

Through collaborative partnership working between Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, the Irish Football Association and Carryduff Colts Football Club, a Girl’s Futsal Regional Development Centre opened its doors in Lough Moss Leisure Centre. In total there were 27 girls aged between 4 & 14 involved on Friday evening from 6:30-7:30pm.

Development of the game of Futsal is one of the current priorities of the IFA, which is a game that through a weighted ball, surface and rules creates an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and fun for anyone who participates and will benefit the improvement of players’ skill and technique.

The Futsal programme, which evolved from the First Kicks for Girls initiative, is led by ex-international player Clare Carson who is now an IFA DENI Primary School Coach and Futsal Coach Educator. Clare will be supported each week by current NI International player Emma McMaster and Carryduff club coaches.

The programme is open to any girl from P1 to Year 10 and it costs £1 per session to attend. Players from other clubs are also welcome to attend each Friday evening to improve their game.

If you want to attend please just come along on Friday nights from 6.30pm or contact Stevie McArdle for more information. Mobile: 07918 682 756
