BUSINESSES URGED TO LEND SUPPORT FOR THE BRA WALK

June 2015 - South Side Advertiser

BUSINESSES throughout Northern Ireland are being encouraged to get their walking shoes on for The Bra Walk, Action Cancer’s brand new charity walk across Belfast.

The fun 10k walk is sponsored by local retail group SuperValu and is the perfect opportunity for businesses to put their best foot forward and help raise money and awareness for Action Cancer’s unique breast screening services.

The Bra Walk will start at Belfast City Hall at 7pm on Friday 5th June and will pass Action Cancer House as it follows a city centre route. With bras the theme for the evening, business people are also asked to don their own bras – the bigger and bolder, the better!

Men, women and children are all welcome to take part in the charity event and online registration is now available at a cost of £12 for adults and £5 for children. Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum sponsorship of £80, the cost of a mammogram for Action Cancer and all entrants will receive a free goodie bag and t-shirt.

Donna Morrison from SuperValu said: “We are delighted to support The Bra Walk and would encourage businesses throughout Northern Ireland to get involved in this fun event. SuperValu has been supporting Action Cancer’s Big Bus for 9 years which brings a free breast screening service to over 220 locations throughout Northern Ireland.

“Lending support to The Bra Walk it is a great way to raise awareness of this life-saving service as well as an opportunity to get fit, walk in memory of a loved one or support someone going through breast cancer. Spread the word and encourage your bosom buddies, work colleagues and family to bring their ‘best’ bras and walking shoes to walk 10k with you on June 5!” she added.

Dougie King, Head of Fundraising and Communications of Action Cancer said: “We are delighted to be launching Action Cancer’s brand new fun event, The Bra Walk with the fantastic support from retail group SuperValu. Workmates and colleagues getting involved in this special sponsored walk are guaranteed a fun evening, while raising vital funds for Action Cancer.”
