SERC and PSNI Project highlights the Consequences of Crime

January 2020 - The North Down Advertiser

South Eastern Regional College (SERC) media students have joined forces with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) on a project designed to encourage young residences of Northern Ireland to think about the criminal justice system and the consequences that follow crime.

The students, studying Level 3 in Creative Media Production at the College’s Bangor Campus, were tasked with harnessing their skills and knowledge to create a series of graphic posters and audio packages to promote safety and responsible decision making among their peers with selected designs featuring on the PSNI Bangor Facebook and Twitter pages.

Keith Martin, SERC Lecturer in Creative Media Production said, “We were delighted to work with PSNI on this important project. Our students were briefed on the project by the PSNI’s local youth Diversion Officer, who gave the students helpful direction and advice, which saw their projects come alive.”

He continued, “Projects such as this give our students the opportunity to practice what they learn in the classroom for a real-life scenarios. This teaches them vital employability skills which are necessary in today’s competitive working environment.”
