NORTH DOWN DUP MLA GORDON DUNNE AWARDED MBE

March 2017 - The North Down Advertiser

North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has been awarded his MBE by HRH The Prince of Wales. He is joined at Buckingham Palace with his family.

North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has been awarded his MBE by HRH The Prince of Wales at a recent Investiture Ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Mr Dunne added:

'It was an enormous honour and privilege to have been presented with an MBE at Buckingham Palace recently by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. I was extremely honoured and humbled to have been recognised by Her Majesty The Queen, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June. I count it a great honour and privilege to have represented the people of North Down for over thirty one years as an elected representative, firstly as a local Councillor on North Down Borough Council having been first elected in 1981 and now in my second term as an MLA in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

I would like to thank my family, friends and the local people of North Down who continue to support me as I seek to serve the local community. To be honoured with an MBE is a real honour and privilege, especially during such a momentous occasion as Her Majesty's 90th Birthday. It was a tremendous honour to be in Buckingham Palace with my family to receive my award and I really enjoyed this very special occasion. I also give thanks to God for the health and strength to do the job and to the people of North Down for their continued support and encouragement over the many years as an elected representative. I always enjoy helping people in my role as an elected representative, and I shall continue to do so, and work towards making Northern Ireland a better place for all in the future.’
