April 2015 - The North Down Advertiser

Translink employees at Bangor Railway Station have achieved the top Platinum accolade in the annual TIDY Translink Awards Programme – designed to ensure facilities are continuously improving their safety, health and environmental performance.

Translink works in partnership with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful to access local bus and rail stations, depots and offices. The TIDY Translink programme recognises the teamwork Translink employees achieve in creating an attractive bus and rail network.

Seven facilities across the network have achieved the top Platinum accolade, scoring 95% or above in the assessment process, carried out independently by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.

An additional 12 facilities scooped Gold, while 11 stations received Silver and 13 achieved the Bronze award.

Translink Group Environmental Manager Andy Bate commented on the results:
“TIDY Translink is a great staff recognition programme, motivating employees to improve the facilities they work in for passengers and colleagues to enjoy.

“We are responsible for transporting people to work, school, recreational and social activities, therefore if our stations are attractive; it encourages more people to travel by public transport. Our partnership with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful ensures our facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards. Well done to everyone involved in delivering such a fantastic set of results,” concluded Andy.

Chief Executive of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful Ian Humphreys said:
“Once again, the TIDY Translink Awards have been a great success. I am delighted with the results and the number of facilities achieving the prestigious Platinum Award this year. The hard work and dedication of Translink staff has been reflected and is helping more people to make the smart move to using public transport.”
