The successful recipients of the Lisburn City Council Coca-Cola Bursaries Scheme received their awards during a presentation at the Coca-Cola Visitor Centre.

The Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Margaret Tolerton and Ailish Forde, Public Affairs & Communications Director at CCHBC Northern Ireland, presented the bursary cheques to the lucky young people who received them to help them progress and develop their talents and/or skills.

Katie Wilson, Andrew McCrory, Lauren Dick, Chloe Terris, Ruth Steen and Caitriona Adams were the six young people who received a Lisburn City Council Coca-Cola Bursary Award this year.

Councillor Margaret Tolerton, speaking about the bursaries, said: “This annual bursary scheme offers financial support to talented young people from the Lisburn area who would like to further develop their skills in a variety of activities. The quality of entries this year was impressive and I hope that the six recipients will use this bursary to achieve their ambitions in a variety of disciplines from sport to music and art to community work.

“It is heartening to see and in partnership with Coca-Cola be able to recognise the commitment and effort of young people in the Lisburn area; and experience the sense of community that they have developed. I would encourage them to make the most of the opportunities presented to them.”

Through this scheme, the Council and Coca-Cola hope to support life-changing opportunities for the young people of the City. Young people are the future of Lisburn and to be able to support them as they pursue their ambition and strive to become the best in the sport they play, and the community they work for is fantastic.
