More than 315 young athletes from across Northern Ireland raced to take part in the first event of this year s firmus energy Super Six Series, which was held recently at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast. Organised by Lagan Valley Athletics Club, Northern Ireland s largest athletic series is open to all young people aged eight and up.

Peter McShane of firmus energy, said: "We re proud to be supporting the Super Six for the fourth year running and it was great to see so many people involved in the first event of this year s Series. To have hundreds of athletes attend the first meet is testament to the reputation of the event and we are delighted that the firmus energy Super Six Series continues to go from strength to strength every year."

The firmus energy Super Six Series is open to all budding athletes, both beginners who would like the opportunity to try out new track and field events and more serious competitors, who are offered a chance to go up against other skilled athletes from across Northern Ireland.

Bryan McCorkell from Lagan Valley Athletics Club, added: "This is a great start to the Series and as our events take place in the evenings, this allows as many young people as possible to take part. The events are divided into different age categories and there is a variety of track and field sports, including the 100metre sprint, long jump, javelin and shot putt.

"We can already foresee that this will probably be the biggest year yet for the firmus energy Super Six Series and we are grateful for the wonderful support for the event from local families and athletes across the province."
