1+ million French to read all about Northern Ireland.

Four top French travel writers have been discovering the delights of Co Down recently, experiencing its superb food and finding out about some of the many things to see and do in this part of Northern Ireland. They were here as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.

The journalists’ itinerary included a food tour of Co Down, with a chance to do some baking at the Killinchy home of Tracey Jeffrey of NI Food Tours. The group also enjoyed an immersive Game of Thrones experience at Castle Ward, as well as a visit to Mount Stewart House and Gardens, the Silent Valley and the Spelga Dam near Newcastle.

Monica MacLaverty, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Southern Europe, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influential travel writers to visit Northern Ireland. Their articles will be seen and read by over 1 million people around France – helping to raise awareness of the wonderful culinary experience on offer here, as well as the many things to see and do on a holiday in Co Down.

“France is one of the top markets for tourism to Northern Ireland and Tourism Ireland has a busy autumn promotional programme under way right now – to showcase Northern Ireland and continue to grow French visitor numbers. With our spectacular scenery, world-class attractions and good value accommodation, Northern Ireland truly is a ‘must see’ destination. Our message is that there has never been a better time to come and visit Northern Ireland.”
