Support Local this Christmas

December 2020 - The Ards Advertiser

Ards and North Down Borough Council, in collaboration with the town chambers of commerce for Bangor, Comber, Donaghadee, Holywood and Newtownards, has launched its Christmas ‘Support Local’ campaign…

Our villages and towns are brimming with everything you need to make the holiday period extra special this year, offering everything from unique shops for special gifts, boutiques, and the finest food and drink. Whether you are shopping safely in store or supporting our local retailers online, join us to celebrate and ‘support local’ in Ards and North Down this festive season.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Trevor Cummings, said:

“As we continue with our recovery from Covid-19, it is vitally important – now more than ever – that we support our local businesses.

“Whatever you’re looking to purchase, before going online, please ask yourself if you could buy it from your local shop first. Each of our town centres and villages offer real value through great products and personal service, as well as enhancing the character of our borough and helping to support local jobs and the economy.

“Throughout the Covid crisis, our local retailers and businesses have gone above and beyond to support our residents and communities in their time of need. Now it’s our turn to reciprocate that support.”

In addition to the Bangor and Newtownards weekly markets, a series of Christmas markets will offer you the opportunity to pick up fresh local produce, artisan food and drink, gifts and unique crafts. You can enjoy that festive feeling while picking up those special local treats by joining us and shopping local this Christmas.

The outdoor Christmas Markets have been organised by Donaghadee Community Development Association, Ards Chamber of Commerce, Bangor Chamber of Commerce, Comber Farmer's Market, Market Fresh and Ards and North Down Borough Council.

Measures will be in place for social distancing and hygiene.

Please be responsible and follow public health guidance and help stop the spread of coronavirus:

1. Wash your hands well and often
